Problems to be noticed in digital signal connection
The input signals of the frequency converter include the digital input signals (switch type command signals) for operation of running/stop, forward/reverse, inching and other operating states. These signals are often from the digital output signals of PLC. PLC usually uses its internal relay contact (relay output type PLC) or components with switching characteristics (transistor output type PLC) to connect with the frequency converter to get the operation state command, as shown in Figure 1 and Figure 2. Attention shall be paid to the following when connecting digital signals:
(1) When the relay output type PLC is used to connect with the frequency converter, it should be noted that poor contact often leads to incorrect operation of the frequency converter, so the connection should be reliable in the actual wiring.
(2) When the transistor output type PLC is used to connect with the frequency converter, it should be noted that the voltage and current of the transistor itself are within their limits to ensure the reliability of the system.
(3) When designing the input signal circuit of the frequency converter, inductive loads such as relays should be avoided as much as possible. The surge current generated by the opening and closing of relays may cause the wrong operation of the frequency converter.
(4) When the switch signal outputted by PLC enters the frequency converter, sometimes there will be crosstalk between the external power supply and the control power supply of the frequency converter. Pay attention to separate grounding of PLC and the frequency converter to avoid using a common grounding wire.
