    ALLEN BRADLEY 1785-KE C DH/RS232 INTFC
The Allen-Bradley 1785-KE is a Data Highway communication controller interface module. This module comes with One (1) Data Highway Plus and One (1) RS232 ports, used for connecting RS232 devices to the DH+ network. The 1785-KE is capable of operating and changing data in half-duplex and full-duplex configuration. This module supports communication rates of 57600 bits per second for Data Highway Plus (DH+) and switch selectable speed for RS232 such as 110 to 19200 bits per second. Aside from linking intelligent RS232 devices to DH+ plus network, the 1785-KE is intended to replace the 1785-KD and 1785-KC communication controller modules. The 1785-KE supports mounting to a slot of a 1785 chassis. Appropriate cable for connecting the module to the DH+ network is Allen-Bradley 1770-CD while compatible data terminal interface cable for the RS232-C port is the 1770-CG of modem interface module with catalog no. 1770-CP. Since the 1785-KE is inserted into the backplane of a 1785 chassis, it draws current from the backplane. The module’s current draw is 1.2 Amperes at 5VDC. This module is required to be operated in an environment with temperature range of 0-60 Deg. Celsius. For storage, the storage area shall maintain a temperature range of -40 to 85 Degree Celsius while the ambient humidity rating must be kept at 5-95% without condensation. The 1785-KE is capable of exchanging data betweek Allen-Bradley Advisor color graphic system, PLC3 Programmable Logic Controller, PLC2 Programmable Logic Controller, PLC4 Microtrol Programmable Logic Controller. It may also communicate with workstations that support RS232-C communication. It is a communication module that interfaces any RS-232-C intelligent device with the Data Highway Plus (DH+) network. This module is a single slot module that offers a full Duplex or Half Duplex protocol on the Asynchronous link. It connects to RS-232-C devices through the Asynchronous (RS-232-C) 15-pin female EIA D-shell connector port on the module using the Data Terminal Interface Cable (1770-CG) or the modem interface cable (1770-C); it also connects to the Data Highway Plus (DH+) via the 3-screw terminal block using the Data Highway Plus drop-line cable (Belden 9463). In addition, it can communicate with the 1784-T50 Terminal through the 9-pin male EIA D-shell connector port, and has a transfer rate of 57,600 bits per second on the DH+ and Switch selectable rate ranging from 110 to 19200 bits/second on the RS-232-C port. The 1785-KE has 4 switch assemblies (SW1, SW2, SW3, and SW4) which provide communication options. The SW1 switch provides RS-232-C link options, the SW2 sets Node number, the SW3 selects Data Highway Plus and RS-232-C link communication rates, and the SW4 is a reserved switch. This unit is mounted on a single slot of the 1771 I/O rack, and when using a Drop-line configuration, is mounted within 100 feet of the Data Highway Plus Trunk line. When connecting directly to the RS-232-C device, the maximum installation...
