ACS580-01-246A-4DAC is mainly composed of digital registers, analog electronic switches, bit-weighted networks, summing operational amplifiers and reference voltage sources (or constant current sources).
ACS580-01-246A-4 uses each digital value stored in the digital register to control the analog electronic switch of the corresponding bit respectively, so that the bit with the number 1 generates a current value proportional to its bit weight on the bit weight network, and then The operational amplifier sums each current value and converts it into a voltage value.
ACS580-01-246A-4 can form different types of DACs according to different bit-weighted networks, such as weighted resistor network DAC, R–2R inverted T-shaped resistor network DAC, and single-value current network DAC. The conversion accuracy of the weighted resistor network DAC depends on the reference voltage VREF, as well as the accuracy of the analog electronic switch, operational amplifier and each weighted resistor value.
The disadvantage of ACS580-01-246A-4 is that the resistance values of each weight resistor are different. When there are many digits, the resistance values are very different, which brings great difficulties to ensure accuracy, especially for the production of integrated circuits. Disadvantage, so this circuit is rarely used alone in an integrated DAC.
ACS580-01-246A-4 consists of several identical R and 2R network sections, each section corresponding to an input bit. Sections are connected in series to form an inverted T-shaped network. The R–2R inverted T-shaped resistor network DAC is one that works faster and has many applications. Compared with the weighted resistor network, since it only has two resistance values of R and 2R, it overcomes the shortcomings of many weighted resistor values and large resistance differences.
The ACS580-01-246A-4 current-type DAC switches the constant current source into a resistor network. The internal resistance of the constant current source is extremely large, which is equivalent to an open circuit. Therefore, including the electronic switch, it has a relatively small impact on its conversion accuracy. And because most electronic switches use non-saturated ECL switching circuits, this DAC can achieve high-speed conversion and high conversion accuracy.
